"Fuck you smash capitalism patches we cannot afford." - Paperplanecrash
This is not a song about resenting people with money, the furthest from it. We are all forced to exist in a system that aims to exploit us to the fullest potential and if somebody manages to navigate this system, causing as little to no harm to others as possible, ideally stealing from the mega corporations that employ them, the better. No better theft than time theft.
I do however often feel a strong disconnect with the direction a lot of modern quasi-punk and hardcore bands have taken. What was once something raw and unpredictable, has become very streamlined and commodified. The music, and more importantly the message behind it, often takes a back seat and becomes just another product being peddled at the merch table after the show, ensuring the band's profit margin remains as big as possible. Their band is a business and it treated as such - you need to ensure that the value of your assets increases year over year. Why sing about topics that could alienate your fanbase and jeopardise your earnings?! Best to not mention any controversial topics as otherwise we may loose that market share of greyzone dorks who still think punk and hardcore are apolitical - never were and never will be. Fuck you 35 EURO patches and 70 USD sweatshirts.
To me, the punk scene (or whatever this is at this point) has always been a community first and I would never think of treating people I consider friends as potential consumers of my goods and services, especially in the DIY scene. This is a space for people to grow and thrive and learn as much as possible. That's why I am so happy to see the current wave of hardcore punk in Slovenia that takes on so many forms and shapes, eschewing not only genre, but also societal norms, to grow a fantastic community and I could not be happier to be a part of it.
And yes, if not clearly obvious, both the song and it's title are inspired by two fantastic Slovenian bands that left a huge mark on me - Melete and Paperplanecrash.
Special thanks to:
Katja Glavnik, Veseli Fantje, the Slovenian powerviolence mafia, Desadovnjak, Obup Tattoo and all my friends - you know who you are.

WORDS:
Boli me kurac če delate denar,
sam dejmo si ne delat utvar.
Jaz špilam za sebe, to delam za frende,
ti obiraš na merchu in kopiraš trende.
Polni žepi, hardkor zvezde.
Vsak mava svoj pogled na svet,
sam v tvojem jaz ne morem žvet.
